About

Sarah Legere creating a driftwood wreath at Maine Salty GirlGrowing up in York, Maine, folklore has it that Cherie Herne, the creative heart behind Salty Girl and the Long Dog, is part mermaid. Using her graphic design education, coastal wild spirit, and passion for the sun, sand, and sea, Cherie and her team craft stunning one-of-a-kind driftwood creations.

The crew at Salty Girl has become known for its authentic, hand-crafted driftwood and sea glass wreaths, driftwood Christmas trees, and coastal-themed signs and wall decor. With patience and a deep respect for the bounty that the sea provides them, each piece that the Salty Girl gals produce is crafted with care and tons of love in Maine.

Meet Cherie Herne, a/ka/a Salty Girl

“I’m an 8th generation native of York, Maine and DNA have confirmed that I AM definitely part mermaid!  After three years of having my Salty Girl shop, I was able to live and work a salty lifestyle full time and have never looked back!

I’ve gone from sitting at a computer all day, to going to a private cove or sandy beach every day.  I feel very fortunate to have an occupation that allows me to paddleboard to work!”
